The Last Supper (on mainland)

June 20, 10:36 AM 657 hours. Today we'll run the shortest route we've done since we set out. Roughly 60 miles to Pompano where we'll fuel and reprovision the boat. We had a nice smooth cruise barely 1 nautical mile off the coast. It was saturday and there were a ton of boats fishing and cruising. Gina spit polished the interior while we cruised. Reaching the Hillsboro inlet we had to wait a few minutes for the bridge tender. The busiest day in Boston harbor probably isn't as crowded with boats as this was. We had to pass thru this bridge and one more before reaching Sands marina where we'll spend the night before making our way to the Bahamas. Gary met us on the docks.
We fueled and then slid into our slip.
Temps had to be in the 90's with a relative humidity of 90 %, just thinking brought a sweat to your brow. Gina's handiwork on the inside really showed..

Gina had a friend come meet her that she hadn't seen in years. Meanwhile, Gary S and I went off to the grocery and liquor store. No need to buy rum since where we're going has more rum than we can handle and for much less money. Wine is another story though, so we bought nearly three cases. Getting back to the boat Gary S and I plotted our course for the next day. Around 170 miles to Nassau but we'll have to clear customs in Bimin first. That evening we all went out for our last supper on the mainland.

  4. Happy Father’s Day to all! Gina, the boat looks awesome! All of your hard work has paid off. Weather looks great! You all look as though you couldn’t be happier. I am wondering what Gary S is thinking in photo 1428? Is he waiting for the next bus?…would you believe the water shuttle to the Caribbean? Cool, calm & relaxed in the 90 degree heat; just another day in paradise. What would I be thinking? I’m afraid that I would pacing back & forth with excitement…just jumping up & down inside at the opportunity to join such an adventure. Someday…Best wishes, calm seas, fair winds.

  6. Ahhhh...Houston's my favorite! What better send off from the States than a meal at Houston's. Happy Father's Day to All! Glad to hear the weather is finally in your favor and that you made Nassau last night. Report from the Second Asst. Navigator "G1" is that they cleared customs in Bimini on Sunday afternoon with no problems, made Nassau last night and tied up at just about 7:45pm. Off to southern Exumas today with a stop at Staniel Cay Yacht Club for a "Cheeseburger in Paradise". Gina, this should clear up any remaining Rum Flu problems! Hope you are doing will with all of those pirates, and know that the wenches from Marina Bay all be thinking of you! Love, Carol

  8. Now they be in the Exuma's. Updates are coming, they promise. Rumor has it tho' data transmission is pricy so I think we'll have to wait a few days for the fun photos but I'm told the pirates have been hamming it up. Well, hopefully their rum flu is behind them and they don't get any Nor'easters like we be getting. Good luck and love to you from all, even those that have been watching but not identifying themselves yet as followers.

  9. Since the pirates have no connectivity, I'll fill in a bit as well....Just heard from my Capt. on staff at the Hotel and he received a call this AM from G1 to assist with weather reports and navagation around a severe weather system that got them last night in Clarencetown at the S. end of Long Island in the Exumas. I guess the weather turned last night and they received some rain and wind. Storm is headed away from them now, and they are heading off to Turks and Caicos with a late start. We are praying for a safe arrival tonight! All the best, love you all! Carol

  12. For all those wondering why there are no updates, well the past couple of days have been filled with waves and storms. They are only made it to Turks & Caicos yesterday after being batted around pretty badly. That was after a night that caused them to loose electricity so no updating then. So today, they will stay in Turks due to more weather and hopefully have good weather tomorrow to go on their way. Love to you all and hope they can update us with more details soon.

  13. I'm starting to wonder if they made a wrong turn and ended up in Alaska! The weather they are experiencing sounds like an episode of Deadliest Catch! Hang in there guys, and we are all praying for calmer seas. If it makes you feel any better the weather has been crap in Boston too! Love, Carol

  15. They have been keeping in touch via email & with a Captain Morales, Puerto Rico Hatteras Captain. They are probably heading off to Ocean World, Puerto Plata then on to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic then onto Puerto Rico. Where they will meet and greet the Captain and his family and thank them for their support in navigation points, marina's and general support.
